A teen was arrested early on Monday morning in connection with a violent robbery that occurred on Tasos Mitsopoulos Avenue in Larnaca.
Police said at around 1:30am on Monday morning, a 24-year-old waiter was assaulted by two young men as he made his way home on an electric scooter, who stole his backpack.
“The backpack contained €500, headphones, an Afghan identity card and receipts from the restaurant where he works,” the police said.
The suspects allegedly beat him before stealing his backpack and attempted to steal his phone but they fled when he resisted.
The 24-year-old victim suffered visible injuries and was treated at Larnaca general hospital and later discharged.
Police said that at approximately 2:30am police spotted a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old on Ayia Eleni Street.
The minor, who was found to be driving without a licence or insurance, was arrested after a search of the vehicle uncovered a knife and the receipts belonging to the victim.
The 16-year-old was arrested for evident offences and is due to be appear before Larnaca district court on Tuesday.
