A celebration of books and culture is coming to the village of Askas as En Typois Publications and the village’s community council co-host a regional book exhibition at the Polydynamo Centre, located in the village’s primary school.

Taking place on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am to 8pm, the event is part of a wider effort by En Typois to bring books closer to communities in rural areas. Visitors will have the chance to browse a wide selection of titles and connect with local literature in a welcoming setting.

As part of its philanthropic mission, 20 per cent of all proceeds from the event will be donated to the Askas Community Council for charitable purposes.

A special highlight of the weekend is the screening of a 60-minute documentary about the life and work of the late Cypriot writer, painter and calligrapher Nikos Nikolaidis. Directed by Chrystallia Avgousti and produced by Tetraktys, the film will be shown on both days at 4.30pm, with support from the Askas Friends of Development Association.

In addition, the Nikolaidis’ four-volume collected works will be available at a special discounted price of €55 (regularly €70).

The Regional Book Festival promises a cultural weekend in the heart of the Troodos mountains – inviting book lovers, art enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike to discover the power of stories and support local creative heritage.
