A 34-year-old man was found dead in an open area early on Friday morning. Police have confirmed that, so far, there is no evidence suggesting foul play.
The man, a European citizen and permanent resident of Cyprus, was discovered around 06.05am in Ayia Napa. He was employed locally. Officers quickly sealed off the scene and began an investigation.
Andreas Constantinou, spokesperson for the Famagusta police directorate, said a post-mortem examination was conducted on Saturday at Nicosia general hospital. The autopsy, performed by forensic doctor Nikola Charalambous, did not reveal a clear cause of death. Samples were taken and sent for further scientific and laboratory analysis.
Constantinou added that all current information available to investigators indicates no sign of criminal activity. The case remains open as police await the results of the tests.
The investigation is being carried out jointly by the Famagusta CID and the Ayia Napa police station.
