An 18-year-old was arrested on Tuesday in Limassol in connection with a case involving conspiracy to commit a crime, causing grievous bodily harm and torching a car, inter alia, the police announced on Wednesday.
Two others are already in custody in relation to the June 20 case.
On Saturday, the Limassol district court issued a six-day remand order for two young men, aged 25 and 20, following a dramatic car chase through the city on Friday night that involved multiple collisions, police warning shots and a suspicious vehicle fire.
The two men were brought before the court on Saturday morning and did not object to their detention.
According to Limassol police, the incident began around 9.30pm during routine traffic checks. Officers from the traffic department attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle travelling at 110 km/h in a 50 km/h zone. The car had no number plates and heavily tinted windows.
When signalled to stop, the driver allegedly swerved toward an officer and sped off. Police said he continued to flee at high speed, ignoring traffic signs, running red lights, and driving dangerously.
During the pursuit, officers fired warning shots in an effort to stop the car. At one point, the vehicle reportedly collided with three other cars, including a police patrol car, yet continued on, veering into the opposite lane and later entering the Limassol-Paphos motorway.
Investigators said the fleeing vehicle struck additional cars and was rammed by a police vehicle at one point, but the driver managed to keep going.
All those involved in the collisions were taken to hospital with minor injuries. They received first aid and were later discharged, police confirmed.
Shortly after 10pm, the pursued vehicle was found engulfed in flames in the Ypsonas area. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, and preliminary investigations suggest the fire was set deliberately.
Police made the arrests based on witness descriptions obtained during the investigation.
