President Nikos Christodoulides, Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres will hold a tripartite meeting on September 27, diplomatic sources said on Wednesday.
The sources informed the Cyprus Mail that the meeting will go ahead on that day, which is the Saturday at the end of the UN’s “high-level week” – the week in which world leaders make speeches to the UN’s general assembly.
Earlier that week, Christodoulides will address the general assembly on September 24, while Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will make his speech the day before on September 23, and both British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will make their speeches on September 26.
Ahead of the New York meeting, UN envoy Maria Angela Holguin is set to arrive in Cyprus this Friday for discussions with both Tatar and Christodoulides.
