Three Cypriot robotics teams from the primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary levels are preparing to travel to Singapore to represent Cyprus at the World Robot Olympiad International Finals 2025, which will take place from November 26 to November 28, 2025.
The mission is organised by the Cyprus Computer Society with support from the Research and Innovation Foundation.
Cyprus will be represented in the elementary category by The Dream Team from the independent SteamDream Team, coached by Antonis Phoinikaridis, and made up of Christoforos Phoinikaridis, Panagiotis Lagos, and Sotiris Petrou.
In the junior category, the team ‘Gymnasio Aradippou 2025’ from Aradippou Gymnasium will compete, coached by Giorgos Petrou, with students Giorgos Chatziloizou, Agathangelos Georgiou, and Nektarios Christoforou.
In the senior category, Cyprus will be represented by the Nerobot team, which secured second place in the national competition after the first-place team was unable to travel. Nerobot consists of students Sofoklis Andronikou and Panagiotis Angonas from the private institute E.P. Robotics Lab, coached by Stavria Angelis.
The Cyprus Computer Society conveyed its best wishes to the students and expressed confidence that they will represent Cyprus with pride while gaining valuable experiences and opportunities to connect with peers from around the world.
The organisation also expressed its warm appreciation to the Research and Innovation Foundation for its continuous and meaningful support of teams participating in international robotics competitions.
The World Robot Olympiad is regarded as one of the leading global educational robotics competitions, designed to inspire students to develop skills in technology, engineering, and problem solving through creativity and healthy competition.
The participation of the Cypriot teams in the international finals follows their success in the national WRO Cyprus competition, which was organised by the Cyprus Computer Society in collaboration with STEM Education Hellas and IET Cyprus, and hosted at the European University Cyprus in October.
The Cyprus Computer Society also organises three additional educational robotics competitions alongside a wide range of student and youth activities focused on computing and technology.
All youth activities are powered by ECOMMBX, with XM serving as the Tech Partner.
