The police on Wednesday said they are looking for social media personality Ioanna Photiou – better known by her online alias Annie Alexui – to facilitate investigations into “offences under the personal data processing act, publication of fake news and harassment”.
Photiou, meanwhile, said she is “not hiding”, reacting to her own wanted notice in a social media post, in which she also published a British telephone number.
She then published a video in which she repeated that she is “not hiding” and said that she has given the police her telephone number “countless times”.
“Call me whenever you want. These warrants have been out for how long? You did not put them out now. It is just that the police have decided now that they want to publicise them. Do you know how many warrants have been put out against me? I am also speaking with the police in Nicosia,” she said.
She added that the police decided on Wednesday to publicise the arrest warrants because “the videos I have put out have got so, so, so much popularity”.
“Go and f*ck yourselves. Carry on as you were. The last time I checked, I had 13 warrants out against me. If you want, make that 53,” she said.
Photiou’s Facebook account is named Justice or Death – Annie Alexui, and she says she uses the platform for the purpose of “exposing Cyprus corruption and my paedo family”.
The police said that the offences of which she stands accused were committed between January and October last year in Paphos and Limassol, while Phileleftheros reported that she lives in Russia.
She had been in a relationship with Alexis Mavromichalis, himself commonly known as Alexoui, who was shot dead at the age of 45 on the balcony of his apartment in Nicosia in 2023.
Analysis of the bullet wound in Mavromichalis’ body showed that it was fired from a distance of around 50 metres, striking him in the abdomen from below.
The police on Wednesday asked that anyone who may have information regarding Photiou’s whereabouts call the Paphos police station on 26 806021, the citizens’ hotline on 1460, or visit their nearest police station.
