A cultural institution that began its course in 2016 is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this summer. To celebrate a decade of the Faneromeni Arts Festival, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation is planning a new series of activities, events and performances and has just announced an open call to young artists, groups and creators to submit their proposals.

This year’s theme pays tribute to the past and serves as a source of inspiration for the future, with proposals that unite the culture, art, history, collections and museums of the foundation into a vibrant cultural mosaic.

“We celebrate our journey and plan the future of culture through a journey of art, history and music dedicated to the foundation’s collections, exhibitions and museums that inspire us,” says the foundation.

“Through a decade of activities, collaborations and inspiring moments, our festival has evolved into a vehicle of cultural identity—a living dialogue between art, tradition and contemporary expression.”

This year’s theme seeks to honour this journey, focusing on the elements that connect us, such as art as a bridge of communication, history as memory and inspiration, the Cypriot dimension of the collections and the foundation’s museums as guardians of Cypriot cultural heritage and the combination of tradition with contemporary technology.

Creators are invited to find their niche and send ideas by April 3. The events, within the framework of Faneromeni 26 Arts Festival, must be related to the island’s history and tradition by combining various arts in a celebration set to run for four months at the centre of the old city, and the events will be held at the Amphitheatre of Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation.

The Moments at the Museum 26 series, taking place at the Cultural Foundation’s two museums, aims to give the public the opportunity to acquire new experiences by getting up close and personal with the exhibits of the museum’s collections. Musical, theatrical and other performances, poetry soirees, activities and workshops for children and families, as well as many other activities, will be held at the museums, laying the foundation for a special voyage through knowledge and interaction.

For more information about the application procedure, those interested can head to the social media pages of the Foundation, as well as the official webpage or email [email protected].
