A masked armed group forced their way into a house in Limassol on Friday night, prompting a police investigation that led to the arrest of a 19-year-old on Saturday.
Police received information at around 9.30pm about a fight at a residence in the Ayia Fyla area and officers were dispatched to the scene to investigate the incident.
According to residents, several unknown individuals knocked on the door of the house whereupon seven men wearing hoods and carrying weapons pushed their way inside.
The occupants told police the group attempted to attack them while also causing damage to parts of the property.
During the confrontation the residents managed to push the intruders out of the house and restrained one of the alleged attackers.
While attempting to force their way back inside the group damaged two windows before fleeing the area.
Police said that by the time officers arrived most of the suspects had escaped.
A young man identified in connection with the case was arrested on Saturday under a court warrant and taken into custody to assist with investigations.
Police said the investigation is ongoing and efforts continue to identify the remaining individuals believed to have been involved in the attack.
