The police arrested a 40-year-old man on Monday afternoon after he picked up a parcel from an express courier in Nicosia containing 550gr of cocaine.

The drug squad had set up a coordinated operation after a tipoff.

The man was stopped by the police just before 3.30pm in the Nicosia district, after collecting the parcel from the courier.

The police found the 550gr of cocaine hidden in various nutritional supplement packages.

The man was arrested for trafficking drugs and conspiracy to commit a crime.

Police investigations are ongoing.
