Turkish Cypriot leader Tufan Erhurman is scheduled to meet the UN Secretary-General’s special representative in Cyprus on Monday, a UN source said on Saturday.

The two will meet at 11am following Diagne’s meeting with President Nikos Christodoulides on Friday

Meanwhile, there has been no confirmation for a new meeting between Christodoulides and Erhurman or a planned visit of UN secretary-general’s personal envoy, Maria Angela Holguin.

During the meeting on Friday, Christodoulides expressed the Greek Cypriot side’s political will to see developments that would allow a return to substantive negotiations as soon as possible, while Diagne reiterated the UN’s support for facilitating meetings at any point.

Speaking after the meeting, government spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said that the Greek Cypriot side had already proposed a specific date for a new meeting between the two leaders in April but is awaiting a relevant response.

“So far there has been no response. We are waiting, and once it is determined there will be announcements,” he said.
