Former Edek MEP Demetris Papadakis, currently running for Alma in the May 24 parliamentary elections, testified to the police on Friday and filed a complaint against journalist Makarios Drousiotis – a Volt candidate – for publishing “fake news” and “fabricating false information”.
Papadakis accused Drousiotis for posting “totally fabricated” messages on social media allegedly between Papadakis and former judge Michalis Christodoulou.
He denied ever having exchanged messages with Christodoulou and said the issue should be investigated by the police immediately, initially by summoning Drousiotis to hand over evidence.
On Thursday, Papadakis confirmed that he had handed over his mobile phone for forensic examination following Makarios Drousiotis’ allegations.
