The Council of Ministers on Monday approved a €250 Easter allowance for low-income pensioners.
According to the deputy ministry of social welfare, the number of beneficiaries amounts to approximately 10,050 people in 2026, with the total expenditure expected to amount to €2,512,500.
The deputy ministry confirmed that the same financial criteria applied in 2024 and 2025 will be used to grant support.
This means that the support will be made available to low-income households with an annual income of up to €7,000 for a single person and up to €12,000 for two people.
The income limits will be adjusted according to the composition of the household and the applicable scales.
The application of the €30,000 deposit criterion, which was in place previously, will not be a condition for the granting of the 2026 allowance.
