The British bases police force has marked a milestone with a passing out parade held at the officers’ mess in Episkopi.
The event celebrated 16 officers who completed their two-year probation, alongside eight new recruits who formally joined the force.
Senior bases’ officials, Cyprus police representatives and family members attended the ceremony.
The officers, from the February 2023 intake, included 12 men and four women from both Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities.
After completing an intensive programme of academic study, operational training and frontline experience, they have now been confirmed in the rank of police constable.
Maria Atalioti, temporary superintendent, oversaw the training, described the process as demanding and rigorous.
She said the programme ensured officers gained the skills and professionalism required for policing duties.
Vasilis Ntirris, police constable, 23, from Larnaca, said the training provided the knowledge and mindset needed to serve effectively.
He added that the experience helped officers understand the responsibilities of the role and prepare to serve their communities.
Buse Kochak, Turkish Cypriot police constable, 35, from Nicosia, highlighted the value of training, describing it as a significant milestone in her professional development.
The ceremony also marked the attestation of eight new recruits from the January intake, who will now begin their probationary training.
Atalioti welcomed the new officers, noting they are starting a challenging but rewarding journey within the British bases police.
