Unficyp’s new force commander major general Mohammad Asadullah Minhazul Alam arrived on Monday at the force’s headquarters to assume his duties.

Alam, from Bangladesh, was welcomed by top UN official in Cyprus Khassim Diagne and force chief of staff brigadier Patrick Allen.

Unficyp said on social media that it looked forward to “major general Alam’s leadership in supporting peace and stability on the island”.
