A 49-year-old woman who stands accused of having killed her husband in their home in the Nicosia district village of Yerolakkos appeared in court in northern Nicosia on Wednesday, with it being stated that the man had suffered a total of 30 stab wounds.
A Turkish Cypriot police representative speaking in court said that the autopsy of the man’s body had been completed, and that a total of 20 statements have been taken thus far since the incident occurred on Saturday night.
They added that local security camera footage will also be reviewed.
In addition, the court was informed that the woman will be taken to the Baris psychiatric hospital in northern Nicosia to undergo a psychiatric evaluation so as to determine whether she is fit to face trial.
According to news website Haber Kibris, at this point, the woman’s lawyer asked the police representative whether the woman was receiving psychiatric treatment, and the representative confirmed that she is.
The court ordered that the woman remain in custody for a further eight days, with the police’s investigation into the matter
