This week the historic centre of Limassol will come alive with a vibrant programme of exhibitions, performances and site-specific projects as the 5th Limassol Art Walks returns. From October 9 to 11, artist-run spaces, institutions, galleries and pop-up initiatives will be open, inviting the public to explore art in the city.
“Visitors are encouraged to create their own routes,” says the team, “wander through Limassol’s streets, and discover the depth and diversity of its contemporary art scene. This year’s programme features a wide range of artistic practices and perspectives, touching on questions of place, memory, territory, ecology, identity, transformation and our relationships with the human and more-than-human world.”
Taking part this year are the spaces: Alley, Art Seen by Maria Stathi, Center of Performing Art MITOS at Xydadiko, CITRONNE Gallery | Athens – Poros Island, dzamaria x Lapis Lazuli, Eins Gallery, Fragment, JOEY RAMONE, Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki, Megadence x Upper Tapper, MeMeraki Artist Residency, morfi gallery, NeMe Arts Centre, Oasi space for visual experimentations, Pauline Project, Pylon Art & Culture, Sic. Contemporary Culture, The Edit Gallery, The Gallery 45 and VELYCHKO GALLERY.
Several events, exhibitions and artistic projects will be on throughout the three days with an opening party happening at Tapper Bar on Friday with DJ Patsas at 9pm. An interactive performance titled Opening the Book will take place at Gallery 45 on the weekend at 4pm, while on Sunday, the Limassol Municipal Arts Centre – Apothikes Papadaki will present a performance organised by Sic. Contemporary Culture titled ‘On Anything But You at 7pm.
Plenty more will unfold across the three days, with free admission to all of the events!
