Enosis Neon Paralimni defeated Olympiakos Nicosia 1-0 away at the Makario stadium on Wednesday through a 51st minute penalty scored by Emanuel Dening.
This was Olympiakos’ fourth consecutive league defeat and sixth defeat overall in the past eight games, marking a torrid time for the Nicosia club.
Conversely, this was Enosis’ third win on the trot and fourth overall in the past five games, a run of form which has elevated the club to 11th place on 21 points, just 3 points off ninth-placed Olympiakos.
Speaking after the game, Olympiakos manager Leonidas Vokolos expressed his disappointment with the result and stated that his team’s performance merited at least a draw.
“It’s another game in which the final result is not the one we would like. Based on the overall performance my team definitely deserved to get something more out of the game. Our bad luck continues”, Vokolos said.
“On the other hand, the boys continue putting in the effort. I have told them to forget about this match and focus on the next one. We have another tough game on Saturday (against Ethnikos Achnas) and we are hoping to get the three points which are precious to us”, he added.
