NGO Laona Foundation is organising a bicommunal eco-journalism workshop for young journalists in early April.
The NGO’s efforts are focused on the conservation and regeneration of the Cypriot countryside, with a bicommunal approach to initiatives such as this yearly workshop, which is sponsored by the embassy of the Netherlands.
This year’s subject is “The effects of Covid-19 on the Environment,” and the event will be held over two evenings, on April 5 and 8, and will take place on Zoom, in English.
Applications are open to advanced journalism or communications students, or recently graduated journalists. Both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots can apply.
According to the Laona Foundation, the workshop’s aims are “to sensitise a small group of future professional journalists about the importance of ecological and/or environmental issues, and to demonstrate the need for cooperation in a divided island, since our environment does not recognise Green Lines, but is common to all Cypriots”.
Participation is free and the deadline for applications is Friday March 26.
