President Nicos Anastasiades on Friday informed the National Council of the preparations ahead of the informal conference on Cyprus, scheduled to take place in Geneva next week.

In a written statement, deputy government spokesman Panayiotis Sentonas said the health and foreign ministers, as well as the Greek Cypriot side’s Negotiator Andreas Mavroyiannis took part in the meeting.

“During the meeting President Anastasiades briefed the National Council members about the preparations ahead of the informal conference for the Cyprus problem in Geneva between April 27 and April 29, which UN Secretary General has convened, as well as of the work done so far on specific issues,” Sentonas said.

He also informed them of the agenda and the structure of the informal conference as has been set by the United Nations and outlined the objectives and strategy that the Greek Cypriot side will follow during the conference.

Party leaders will be accompanying Anastasiades to Geneva.

During the meeting, members of the National Council were also briefed about the situation as regards the Covid pandemic.
