The Cyprus issue, the role of the Greek Orthodox Church of Alexandria and its multifaceted work were discussed during a meeting Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Nicos Christodoulides had on Saturday with Theodore II, the Eastern Orthodox Patriarch of Alexandria and all Africa.

The minister praised the work of the Church saying that it is recognized by the governments in both Cyprus and Greece and throughout the region. He said that his visit proves the appreciation President Nicos Anastasiades shows to the work done in the humanitarian, social and religious areas.

The Patriarch said that it is high time there is justice for Cyprus and its people. He added that Cyprus, Greece and Egypt are bonded with strong ties and constitute an example of how people can live peacefully.

He also said that it is an honoyr that the Cyprus minister was received by the President of Egypt , saying that he is a man who appreciates the work offered by the Greek Orthodox Church.
