A fire which broke out in the forest area of Droushia, near Paphos, on Thursday morning has been contained, the Forestry Department said.

The fire broke out at around 9.30am and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the affected area. In addition, five aerial firefighting forces — three helicopters and two aircraft — were also mobilised.

The department said that the blaze was under control by 11.20 am after burning five hectares of low wild vegetation.
