Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar has been awarded as the “most successful politician” by the GAP journalist union in Malatya, Turkey.

In receiving one of the 15th ‘GAP Oscars’, Tatar reiterated that since his election as leader the policy being pursued is that an agreement to the Cyprus solution is only possible through the cooperation of two sovereign and equal states which live side by side.

That policy, he said, is fully supported by Turkey.

Tatar once again argued that a federal solution to the Cyprus problem would place the Turkish Cypriots in danger, as it would be a state encompassed within the EU and the Turkish army would withdraw from the island – gravely endangering the Turkish Cypriot community.
