A 58-year-old man is under arrest as police investigate a case of causing an injury, carrying a knife, making threats, public insults as well as for acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

The arrest follows a complaint filed with police by a 34-year-old who said that as he was at a stop sign on a Paphos road the suspect had threatened him and attacked him with a knife, injuring his arm.

He went to Paphos general hospital where he was treated for injuries to his left arm.

The 58-year-old suspect, against whom a court warrant was issued, was found at around 8pm on Thursday while driving in Paphos.

In his car, a small quantity of cannabis and a hand-made cigarette containing traces of cannabis were found and confiscated.

Subsequently, after being charged in writing over illegal possession and use of drugs he was released and re-arrested under an outstanding warrant against him.

Investigations continue.
