It is unacceptable that state broadcaster CyBC is not streaming parliament’s live session and is instead broadcasting the World Cup, House President Annita Demetriou said on Tuesday.

To this effect, a letter is being prepared by Demetriou to be sent to CyBC’s board of directors and management over the fact that plenum’s discussion of the 2023 state budget is not being aired.

“It is unacceptable that CyBC is not showing parliament’s session, especially during thee days of budget discussion,” she said.

Her announcement came after Akel MP Stefanos Stefanou told deputies he had been informed parliament’s session was not being aired on the state broadcaster due to the World Cup.

“CyBC has two channels and it could have found a solution.”
