Evacuation efforts from Sudan through Cyprus will not stop and authorities have already accepted a further request to help foreign evacuees leave for their homes via Larnaca, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Theodoros Gotsis said on Sunday.
Speaking to CNA, Gotsis said that Cypriot authorities have already accepted an aid request from Australia, which has asked to repatriate its citizens through Larnaca.
Gotsis added that the UK will also continue efforts to repatriate Britons from the African country until Tuesday.
So far, 2,200 individuals have been evacuated and 1,800 have left from Cyprus for the UK.
Another flight is expected to leave during the day.
Gotsis said that there was a request from Australia, which was accepted, for the removal of its nationals from Sudan. A military aircraft is expected to arrive at Larnaca airport carrying the citizens, he added.
The spokesman added that the Cypriot authorities remain on standby and the Estia plan is in place to assist foreign countries in removing their citizens.
He also stated that two family members of a person of Cypriot origin, who were traveling by road to Egypt, have already arrived in the country and are under the responsibility of the Cypriot embassy in Cairo.
