The Central Bank of Cyprus (CBC) on Monday released a report revealing that a total of 33 bounced cheques, valued at €60,851, were issued in November 2023.

This has led to the registration of 17 individuals (9 legal entities and 8 individuals) in the preliminary list of the Central Information Repository (CIR) for bounced cheques maintained by the CBC.

According to CBC data spanning January to November 2023, 313 bounced cheques, in excess of €1.59 million in value, were recorded in the preliminary CIR list, compared to €1.45 million during the same period last year.

These bounced cheques involved 209 individuals (118 legal entities and 91 individuals) in the eleven-month period.

Furthermore, the CBC’s data revealed that in November 2023, 21 individuals were listed in the CIR, including 8 legal entities, 3 individuals, and 10 natural persons affiliated with legal entities.

The cumulative count for the eleven months reached 249 individuals in the CIR, a slight increase from the 231 individuals recorded during the same period in 2022, as reported by the CBC.
