The Uefa Europa Conference League trophy and the Uefa Youth League trophy will both be on display in Nicosia on Wednesday.
The trophies will be in Nicosia as part of a ‘trophy tour’ organised by Greek club Olympiacos, which won both trophies last season.
The trophies will be on display at the Ledra Street crossing point at 12.30pm and then in the garden of the old town hall on the D’Avila bastion of the city’s walls at 6pm.
Olympiacos won the Europa Conference League – their first ever European trophy – in May by beating Italian side Fiorentina 1-0 after extra time at the Agia Sophia Stadium in Athens, the home of arch-rivals Aek Athens.
This victory came a month after their under-18 side had won the Youth League by beating Italian giants AC Milan’s u18s 3-0 in the final in the Swiss town of Nyon, which houses Uefa’s headquarters.
Cyprus will have three teams participate in this season’s Europa Conference League, more than any other country, with Nicosia giants Apoel and Omonia being joined by European football debutants Pafos FC.
This season’s Europa Conference League final will take place on May 28 next year at the Wroclaw Stadium in the Polish city of Wroclaw.
