A 21-year-old man was seriously injured in a traffic accident on Tuesday evening in the Paphos district.

According to Paphos police spokesperson Michalis Nikolaou, the accident occurred on a road outside the village of Polis Chrysochous.

Under circumstances still being investigated, the driver lost control of his vehicle at one point, veering to the left, hitting a traffic sign, and coming to a stop off the road.

The driver sustained serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to the accident and emergency department of Paphos general hospital. He was diagnosed with fractures to his upper arm and collarbone and has been kept in hospital for precautionary reasons.
