President Nikos Christodoulides on Monday will hear proposals from trade unions and social groups as part of preparations for a new package of measures aimed at relieving households from the rising cost of living.

The meeting will take place at 5pm at the Presidential Palace.

On Wednesday, Finance Minister Makis Keravnos will meet representatives of cooperating political parties to gather their suggestions.

According to government sources who spoke to the Cyprus News Agency (CNA), over the coming period, the government will study all proposals to formulate a package of measures to assist households.

According to the same source, all views, including those of opposition parties, are being considered with the state’s fiscal capabilities in mind.

The unions and groups participating in Monday’s meeting include Peo, Sek, Pasydy, Deok, Oelmek, Oltek, Poed, the Pancyprian Organisation of Large Families, the Pancyprian Organisation of Five-Member Families, the Consumers Association, the Pancyprian Consumers Union and Quality of Life Association, the Union of Cypriot Pensioners, and the Pancyprian Pensioners Committee of Sek.
