An 84-year-old man involved in a traffic accident in Limassol was on Friday in hospital in serious condition.
He was injured on Thursday morning around 11am while riding his motorcycle on Giannou Kranidiotis Street.
In circumstances under investigation, he collided with an articulated truck travelling in the same direction. The lorry driver left the scene and continued on his way.
Police secured testimony that the lorry driver was a 56-year-old Limassol resident and located him.
He was given an alcotest with a zero reading, charged in writing, and released to be summoned later.
The 84-year-old was initially taken to Limassol General Hospital, where it was found that he had suffered broken ribs and vertebrae, bruised kidneys, and spleen and adrenal bleeding.
He was subsequently transferred to a private hospital in Limassol, where he was kept for treatment with his condition described by doctors as serious.
