Over 100 million euro will be spent to upgrade the health sector by 2027, government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said on Sunday.

He said this was made clear during a meeting on Friday between President Nikos Christodoulides and state health services organization Okypy and is covered by a plan for the period 2023-2027.

Speaking after a memorial service in Paphos, he said the purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans going forward for Okypy.

In Paphos this includes a very specific timetable for upgrades at the A&E at the hospital and renovations in other wards there as well as the hospital in Polis Chrysochous.

It is the state’s obligation to provide quality health services to its citizens, Letymbiotis added.

With this ambitious development programme, the president has already discussed specific timetables for the completion of works.
