A car owned by a 62-year-old man in Xylotymbou suffered extensive damage from a fire that broke out in the early hours of Friday.

According to police, the fire service responded shortly after 3am to put out the fire in the vehicle parked outside the owner’s house.

Attempts had initially been made to extinguish the fire with a water hose before the Dhekelia firefighters arrived.

The car suffered extensive damages and the scene was put under guard while the Famagusta CID investigated its causes.
