Cabinet on Wednesday approved the creation of an interministerial committee for pension reform, Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou said.
It will include the labour and finance ministers, undersecretary to the president, deputy welfare minister, gender equality commissioner and the citizens’ commissioner.
“This is indicative of the importance the government is placing on improving the pension system.”
The International Labour Organisation will be providing technical support for the reform process, and a delegation will be arriving to Cyprus during the week, Panayiotou said. They will be briefed and will coordinate preparatory works, as well as carry out meetings with social partners.
A roadmap for next steps within the timelines set for the preparation of reform bills within 2025 will be presented in January.
