People posing as garbage collectors are knocking on doors in Nicosia and asking for Christmas tips.

Nicosia municipality called on the public on Friday to be wary and report such incidents to the police.

It added that the phenomenon is not widespread, however residents should be careful about giving tips to people posing as binmen over the holiday season hoping to make a few euros on the side.
