A dead body was found on a construction site in the Paphos district village of Kissonerga on Saturday.
Paphos police assistant operations director Michalis Nikolaou said the body was found when a person visited the site for work purposes.
The body was located at the bottom of what will be a lift shaft.
Nikolaou said the scene has been cordoned off and that investigations are underway to determine the cause of the man’s death.
A forensic pathologist will attend the scene to conduct an autopsy.
Nikolaou added that “for now, all possibilities remain open”.
Later on Saturday, he said the man had suffered injuries to his head and to his right hand.
Additionally, he said, a bag containing electrical cables, believed to have been removed from the construction site’s electrical installations, as well as a cable cutting tool were found near the body.
The body has since been transferred to the Paphos general hospital’s morgue pending an autopsy.
