Yet more snow is expected to fall atop the Troodos mountains on Monday and overnight into Tuesday, with hailstones and rain expected in lower ground across other parts of the island.

As of Monday morning, the snow on the highest peaks of the Troodos mountains was 14 centimetres deep.

The skies will mainly be cloudy across most parts, with temperatures set to rise to 14 degrees Celsius inland, 15 degrees Celsius on the coasts, and a chilly four degrees Celsius in the mountains.

Overnight, localised rain will be possible in some areas, with more snow expected in the mountains. Temperatures will drop to four degrees Celsius inland, eight degrees Celsius on the coasts, and a solitary degree Celsius below freezing in the mountains.

Frost is expected to form overnight in the mountains and also in some inland areas.

The weather is expected to remain largely as it is through Tuesday and into the new year, with Wednesday, New Year’s Day, set to see slightly clearer skies, and with temperatures set to gradually rise through Thursday.
