Cyprus’ first term as a member of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has officially started as of January 1, the foreign ministry said on Friday.
In a post on X, the ministry expressed its enthusiasm over Cyprus’ three-year term as a member of the UN Human Rights Council which has officially started on the first day of the new year.
“We look forward to working along with the other 46 UN members of Human Rights Council in strengthening and promoting UN Human Rights, human dignity, equality and justice across the globe,’’ the post noted.
“Together, we can achieve the full enjoyment of human rights for all!”, it added.
Cyprus was elected, for the first time last October, to the UN Human Rights Council for a three-year term 2025-2027 with 167 votes from the 189 UN member states who took part in the election process.
