The agriculture ministry on Thursday announced the launch of open consultations with farmers regarding investment measures under the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) Strategic Plan 2023-2027.
With a budget of €60 million, the ministry aims to support large agricultural investments, offering funding of up to €400,000 per project.
Furthermore, €7.5 million has been allocated to support young farmers in establishing their businesses as part of efforts to revitalize rural communities.
The ministry said that it has improved the allocation process to ensure that only “the best applications” receive funding. Farmers are eligible to apply only if they are registered in the official register of farmers and agricultural holdings.
“The process aims for maximum participation from stakeholders to create a support framework that addresses the real needs of the primary sector and the challenges faced by farmers,” the ministry said.
According to the ministry, priority will be given to projects that invest in renewable energy sources, technologies that reduce production costs, active crop protection systems against extreme weather, and “intelligent control” systems designed to conserve irrigation water and improve yields.
Project proposals can be submitted on the CAP Strategic Plan 2023-2027 website (www.cap.gov.cy). The deadline for written submissions is February 28, 2025. For more information, interested parties can contact 22-376-182 or 22-408-664.
