Police on Thursday arrested a 47-year-old man in connection with the suspected forging of contracts for football players.

He is the fourth person to have been placed under arrest as part of the same investigation.

Last week authorities had arrested three individuals – aged 58, 57 and 44.

They are suspected of conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to defraud, drafting and circulating forged documents, and securing the registration – of football players – under false pretenses.

According to the police, the offences under investigation were committed between July 2024 and February this year in the Famagusta and Nicosia districts.
