President Nikos Christodoulides said on Sunday two agreements signed with Egypt on exploitation of the Cronos and Aphrodite fields are important and open new horizons for strategic partnerships.

In an interview with Egyptian newspaper, Al-Ahram, published on Sunday, the president said that these two agreements represent an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and open new horizons for strategic partnerships that contribute to boosting development in the Mediterranean region.

At the same time, he referred to Cyprus’ vision for the future of cooperation with Egypt in various fields and its ambition to broaden the horizons of the partnership between the two countries in the coming years.

President Christodoulides was interviewed by Al-Ahram newspaper during his visit to Egypt earlier this month, following an invitation by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to attend the signing ceremony of two important agreements for the development of natural gas resources in the Cronos and Aphrodite fields in the EEZ of Cyprus.
