Police arrested a 49-year-old man overnight in connection with an investigated case of car arson committed in Limassol.

The fire had broken out around 1.30am on Sunday and police had issued an arrest warrant after evidence was secured against the suspect. Officers subsequently arrested the man and took him into custody at 9pm.

The fire broke out in a car parked outside its owner’s residence and was extinguished by the fire brigade. Investigations at the scene by police and the fire service confirmed the fire had been set maliciously.

The case is under ongoing investigation.
