Three schools were closed on Monday due to freezing temperatures.

Education ministry spokesman Yiannis Economides told the Cyprus Mail that Pano Platres nursery school and the high schools of Lemythou and Agros remained closed on Monday.

He added that students in schools remaining open will be able to stay in class during their breaks to keep warm.

Furthermore, a faulty heating system at a Nicosia school has already been fixed, Economides said.

Students at Ayios Ioannis Chrysostomos high school in Lakatamia had refused to go into classes on Monday, as the heating system was not working.
