The fire department responded to a vehicle fire in Engomi in the early hours on Thursday.
In a post on X, fire service spokesman Andreas Kettis said the Nicosia department dispatched two staffed fire engines to the underground parking of a building where the car was stationed.
The vehicle suffered extensive damage but no people were injured. Smoke and heat from the blaze destroyed the paintwork on the walls of the parking lot and its electrical installation, while the smoke also penetrated parts of the stairwell.
Fire fighters used breathing apparatus and water hoses to extinguish the fire and ventilated the premises and its cause is under investigation with the cooperation of the police.
In the last 24 hours, the fire service responded to 42 incidents, 20 concerning fires and 22 special services.
