Two additional traffic cameras have been installed in Limassol and will begin operating on March 4, police announced in a Facebook post.

The cameras have been placed at the traffic lights at the junction of Nikos Kranidiotis Avenue and Ayia Anastasia Street in Polemidia. They will monitor speeding, red-light violations, and vehicles crossing the white stop line.

The system aims to reduce serious and fatal accidents while promoting responsible driving habits.

With these additions, the installation of fixed traffic cameras is now complete.

In a video accompanying the announcement, police explain that both fixed and mobile cameras flash when a violation is detected. They also check for seatbelt use, helmet compliance, and whether drivers have both hands free while operating the vehicle.

The cameras capture the front or rear number plates, and the information is sent to a central system, where vehicle owners are identified and fines are issued.

Fines can be paid online through the police website or an official payment platform. Each fine includes a reference number that provides access to violation details at www.cycamerasystem.com.cy
