With carnival celebrations set to reach a peak at lunchtime on Sunday, police have repeated a call to drivers on the Nicosia-Limassol highway to follow instructions.
The carnival parade will begin on Limassol’s Makarios Avenue at 1pm, starting at the lights of Ayios Nicoloas and ending at the lights of Polemidia.
Police will be present around Limassol, mainly to regulate traffic.
Due to expected increased traffic on the highway, movement around the bridge of Kalavasos, where works have been ongoing, will be affected.
Until 4pm, the two lanes of the highway towards Nicosia will be closed, with traffic diverted to the old road from Governor’s beach.
This means until 2pm, for traffic heading towards Limassol there will be two lanes open.
After 4pm, traffic will return to how it has been in operations since the end of January, for about 1km traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
