A hearing into football club Apoel’s outstanding debts to the social insurance fund was on Tuesday adjourned until March 26 after the club’s legal team asked for more time.

Eleven club officials are facing charges related to unpaid contributions owed to multiple funds, including the social insurance fund, the national health scheme (Gesy) and the redundancy fund.

The debts, covering the period 2020 to 2022, exceed €4 million.

According to Labour Minister Yiannis Panayiotou, the amount linked to the ongoing legal proceedings stands at €2,324,000, with further debts accumulating from 2022 to the present. These additional sums total €4,347,262.

The case follows a similar situation involving Anorthosi Famagusta, whose former officials were due to appear in court last month over similar unpaid social insurance contributions. That hearing is now scheduled for April.
