The cabinet has approved one million euros in financial aid to potato producers affected by last week’s freeze, Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou announced on Wednesday.

The 500 professional potato producers are to receive the funds as the first in a series of measures the minister announced after her visit to inspect conditions in potato producing areas last Thursday.

This is an extraordinary financial support for additional expenses required for crops that were not completely destroyed, she said.

The minister added that the cabinet has also approved payment of €3,815,000 to 1,248 beneficiaries for damages caused by adverse weather conditions in 2024, as well as the payment of aid based on a plan for damage from moufflons.
