A fishing training programme will be launched in March until April by the development company of Larnaca and Famagusta.
The programme concerns holders of professional fishing licences A and B and also for the reissue of the coastal vessel skipper certificate.
The training lessons will include two modules, the first one being basic safety refresher and medical first aid lessons.
The training programme will accept a maximum of 24 trainees and a minimum of 10.
“The goal of the project is to offer specialised theoretical and practical knowledge to the local fishermen, that will provide reissuance of the Coastal Skipper Certificate to practise fishing tourism,” the company said.
Local fisheries action group for the Larnaca area concern Zygi, Mari, Xylotympou, Ormidia and for the Famagusta area Paralimni, Ayia Napa and Liopetri.
The project is organised within the framework of the Local Development Strategy implementation for the Fisheries Areas of the Districts of Larnaca and Famagusta for the years 2021-2027, co funded by the EU.
