Homeowners affected by recent freezing temperatures now have more time to report and repair damage to their solar water heaters, the interior ministry announced on Friday.

The ministry announced an extension for submitting claims, pushing the deadline to May 14. According to the Cyprus News Agency, the decision follows “repeated requests from the public and organisations struggling to complete repairs in time”.

To speed up the process and reduce delays, homeowners are urged to repair their systems immediately, without waiting for an inspection by their district governments.

Affected homeowners must fill out an official damage report form, which available on the interior ministry’s website and the district governments’ online portals, and submit it to their relevant district government office.

To ensure eligibility, applicants must provide proof of the damage and its repair, including photographs and paid invoices.

They must also submit a signed declaration confirming the accuracy of the claim and that they do not have insurance coverage for the damage.

The ministry encourages those affected to submit their claims as early as possible to avoid last-minute complications.
